Methods of recruiting

National press

Newspapers is another way of seeking jobs as they have pages about recruiting for TV and film jobs. The advantage of finding jobs of TV by newspaper is that you will know it is recent as you would have just got the newspaper with the latest news. A disadvantage to newspapers featuring jobs is that you it is not digital and wont update like online newspaper that updates so some newspapers that have jobs in film and TV might no longer be looking to hiring. This screenshot above is of a BBC national newspaper and this is helpful to anyone looking for this specific job as it give you details about the job and how long you have got to apply for the job as well as a link to their website in the newspaper for any further information.

Trade union in Tv and film

I have found a website which feature the trade union in TV and film and this is a page above is a screenshot of job offerings on the stage such as theatre management and other positions the stage as these can be done by film and TV by setting stage on stage instead of location. This is a good method to recruit people who have good experience with this and the job is available in multiple locations. In this page it also is given a help statement as this shows that they are in need of a theater management job. From this it shows that trade union in TV and film is a useful way to find job offers and a way of recruiting people who want to work in TV and Film as it is a whole page on the job and what the job will be about and why they would want people to do this job.

























Graduate

By having Graduate skills is very useful for certain jobs that can get you into Film and TV by having a graduate skill and qualification. This can get you a job in TV such as having a qualification in editing and having editorial skills. There are multiple ways of getting jobs in Film and TV as acting is a part of that and by having a qualification and skills in drama it can lead you to an acting career and can be working in both Film and TV.


Personal skills

Having personal skills is a great way to getting jobs as there are jobs that require you to have communication skills as there are jobs that require you to communicate with customers or clients. An example of having a job that requires communication skill can be stage managers as you would need communications skills to communicate to other staff members when setting up scenes in TV or a Film to make sure that the scene is ready for shooting.

Other types of personal skills that you can help you get jobs in Film and TV is to be organised as this can be important to have for certain jobs such as presentations as you would organise the presentation in order   to discuss how everything is being managed and what you would need to do to improve by showing it through a presentation.

Focus is another personal skill that is a very good skill to have in Film and TV as there are many jobs that require you to focus on such as a camera operator which you would need to focus on the types of shots you would need to do and focus on the timing of when you would need to do a type of camera shot.

Technological skills

With Film and TV most of the jobs is working with technology so having technological skills this can lead to a lot of jobs within Film and TV.  This can get you a job such as an editor because this job would need you to have the technological skills to editing scenes as most scenes are all used for editing.

There are other technological skills that help you get a job such as lighting on stages or a scene that has been shot on a stage in a Film and TV.  The most needed job for TV and Film is a camera operator, this requires technological skills for using the camera for shooting scenes and from this can lead you to filing for high budget movies and TV by having this technological skill.

Training needs

There some type of jobs in Film and TV that will require you to have Training. Camera operator is a job that you would need training so you know how to work and operate the camera. Another job that will require training needs for a job in TV and Film would be an editor as you would need tranning on how to edit scenes such as adding CGI into scenes or adding music into the TV or film for the soundtrack. 

Sources of information

The national careers service is a source of information about jobs that can be a part of Film and TV. What the national careers service does is inform about jobs and can help guide you into getting jobs by providing you with the information about it.

This screenshot is an example of national services as this website is a useful source of information on jobs in Film in TV. So for jobs such as director for TV or film there is a page explaining everything that you need to be a director such as having personal skills like imagination and creative visions. The website also tells you about the hours you would need to work for certain jobs and also the income you would receive, as well as entry requirements in order to get the job.

Trade unions are important to have for an employer as trade unions help fight for your employer rights if you feel that you are being mistreated in anyway or not getting paid as much as you should then by having a trade union they will ensure that you get your employer rights. Trade union is very useful to freelance employees, as they go from job to job working with different companies which is why they would need trade unions, as there could be one company that goes against their employers rights.

Transferable skills

There are some skills that you might have picked up during your redecuation and you can apply those skills thta you have achieved into jobs for Film and TV.

Presentation for employment

Portfolio: This is is where it deals with peoples work documents on their skills and accomplishments which can be seen on contracts. Portfolios can have things such as art work and what people have created which can be there portfolio 

Show reel: This shown through a video tape of a director and actor by them showing a short video of their work which is used for employers to review their talent and if they would want to employ them to make a Film or TV.

Personal website: This is where people make a website based on their talents and skills showing what they can do. So employers would look a websites for this to hire new talent.

Curriculum vitae(CV): This is a page of information about someones skills and qualifications that people use to apply for jobs. It mentions their experiences that can sometimes help with applying to

jobs.

Application letters: These are letters for application for jobs and for an employer to highlight the qualifications and skills.

Interviewing skills: This is need in order to show that you are an employer who is dedicated and come across confident to show that you want the job. Having good communication skills is crucial in an interview as you would have to make your points across as to why you would want this job.

Presentation skills: Having this skill is a great way to get a job by presenting tour skills and qualities to show a presentation of your skills and qualifications could motivate employers to hire you for jobs in TV and Film.

Self presentation: To get any sort of job presenting yourself professional is important as it comes across to employers that you are committed and willing to work hard for your job.

Career development

By having training during your job is a very useful way of learning about your job and what exactly you would need to do for it. This is a great way to train and doing your job at the same time. Having the opportunity to train whilst doing your job can be very beneficial with the practical jobs such as camera operator as having training helps you with your career in TV and Film. 

Continuing professional development is very useful to have because it can help maintain and even increase your skill and knowledge which is very useful for jobs in TV and Film like a director. By having continuing professional development is suitable for a directors job as you are developing your skills which you could apply into producing a lot of TV and Film.

Self training is also what is sometimes needed to get jobs in TV and Film such as teaching yourself about the media and using laptops which is a useful skill for the post production of Film and TV.

The skills that are needed for this job I have such as the ability to work with people as I work well with other people. This job would be good to have as I feel that I can carry out the responsibilities that are needed as I am organised and can get things done. Another good skill that I have and will help with this job would be ms office skill as I have experience in working with it.

Satellite and Cable

Have you seen satellite and cable TV these days? If not then there is the question and debates to which is better for the TV experience as they deliver TV to you the viewer in different ways. Cable TV Is preferred by some people than satellite because you will have no worries about weather affecting your TV but some people prefer Satellite as it is not as expensive as cable TV. Satellite is cheaper than cable so people find it to be better off having to pay less for TV and film that is as good quality as cable but depending on the weather it can disrupt your satellite dish and your TV and film.

  Equipment used for Satellite and cable

 By having Satellite you would obviously need a satellite dish to be placed on your roof to get a connection for you to watch and enjoy the many channels of TV and Film that the satellite will provide you with. Depending on where you live it can be difficult as your satellite would be facing south side and if you were living in an apartment with a shared wall on the south side making it harder and more complicated for satellite whereas in this situation cable would be easier to get.

With cable in order to get that running and enjoy the TV and film features on there for you, you would need to contact an expert technician to help you set it up.If one day you decide to order a  extra cable to get a bigger range of TV and film for you to watch channels that has your favorite TV show but you cant access it with your normal cable which is where you would have to pay for the extra cable then you can rent a cable box to do this.




Film based

Back during the 1880's the type of film based that was used was called Nitrate film and this was the first technologies that made moving pictures and this is what people had to experience back then but too them it was a big step and a new experience as this has never been done before. Think how much are technology has improved for Film and TV compared to what it was. Film technology had been evolving other the years as Nitrate Film was highly flammable which decomposed it leaving it with the film sticky damaging it completely. The next step after nitrate was acetate films and this had improved from nitrate as it would no longer be flammable and gave a much better quality. This film base works by having it spliced with film cement but if it is exposed to intense heat it causes a bubbling burn out effect. After the disasters with acetate the next film based to be developed was Polyester and this is the most recent one. This started to become popular in the 1990s for motion picture prints. This was better than both nitrate and acetate with it being stronger and more stable and from this it was very useful for post production as well as exhibition and archival purposes. Still Polyester still has a disadvantage by Polyester being resistant to breaking it would be likely that film equipment, So film cameras dont use Polyester for shooting original negative as it is less expensive and less time consuming for the film to break instead. Film based has shown how much we have developed technology and that we learn from our mistakes with previous technology that we develop more to improve and make it better for Film and TV

Interactive

Now with Box sets there are more ways to stream film and TV than to simply press a button to switch channel take Sky for  example they have TV guide where it shows you all the time schedule so you can the shows you want to watch and will now when they are on but don't worry if you forget you can put a reminder on and it will pop up on your screen triggering your memory.







Internet and streaming (Film ad TV)

In these days we have technology developing that we can access TV and Film online. There are plenty of ways now for us to access films online and as this is developing people are not getting DVD's on disk anymore. An example of a streaming content that has gotten quite popular is Netflix as this is one of the most used streaming content with a whole range of TV and film for you to watch. Film and TV can be found on the internet as Netflix as this can be on your phones and iPad's which makes this portable to watch TV and Film as long as you pay for a subscription monthly. There are also other streaming cogent such as Amazon prime and NOW TV which have other TV and film on them. There can sometimes have trouble with Netflix and streaming content as it is all online and this can be a disadvantage to people as by having a satellite with bad weather can ruin your enjoyment of watching film and TV online. It can also be the video itself as Netflix had has its fair share of errors with contents not being able to load. There is TV and Film that can be accessed on websites where you do not have to pay and can view it without having to pay monthly by featuring the latest Films that have been distributed into cinema. Most content on unofficial websites are often pirate copied and not a good and honest way to watch TV and film. Piracy is against the law an by having pirate copied content on your computer that you have got on the internet can lead yo a virus so don't do it enjoy film and TV don't ruin them.

High definition

The most popular TV quality that we are all familiar with is high definition giving TV and Film a better feel. High definition can be used on multiple electrical devices such as Sky featuring their channels which can have high definition but if your willing to pay extra of the usual subscription and a new sky device to allow you to enjoy the high definition content. Films can be distributed and viewed with high definition and a good example can be the IMAX which is one of the best ways to enjoy film even more than going to a cinema as they are completely different experiences.

Consumer products

There are plenty of products to do with a TV and Film that we consumers get such as TV box's as this is now commonly brought and is in most households. A very good product that consumes buy are Amazon fire stick which is a usb stick that you can put into your TV given you extra content for you to add such as Netflix. As long as you have HDMI then you can plug in Amazon fire stick and enjoy TV and film on the big screen through the use of internet which shows how much more our technology for TV and film is developing. What makes Amazon fire stick a good consumer product is because of its price only costing £7 if your knew to amazon prime and that is very cheap with the amount of TV and film that it provides. There are consumer products that give advantage to TV and film and one of the products is a sound bar which is a wireless devices which improves the sound quality and it gives it an advantage as there is no wires that you can trip over or worry about fire hazards with wires so you don't have to panic about that you can enjoy this product without having to check where your walking.

Pay per view

With pay per view it will require you to pay a fee for a single TV programme or a film for a period of time but they are reasonably cheap. Examples of where you can find and get pay per view can be sky box offices where it features the latest Films that are out and you can also pay for episodes of TV shows. You can also have pay per view on Virgin media. There is pay per view for sport channels such as wrestling as you can pay for each events.

on-demand viewing

TV technology is improving with its development as now there are so many ways to watch TV and film than to just switch from channel to channel or wait until your best show or film comes on now that we have on demand viewing. Sky has plenty of Films and TV that you can watch anytime by just  through the push of the remote button you can play and it is not live so you wont have to worry if you miss the good part of the Film as you can alway go back to on demand and it will still remain.

Digital recorders

Digital recorders are one of the many things that technology is developing as now we can record TV shows and films so we wont miss them. This is where with SKY we can access TV guide which has its uses as we can search through the programmes find it and if it is a TV show we can record it by series link which records the entire episodes of a series. Now this technology has developed even more as we can now find it on our phone or Ipad apps where we can access SKY and record it from our phones so if your on holiday and your worried that your gonna miss a show you can still record and come home with it still being on your TV ready to watch.
